Greetings Festivarians!!

Mike Marshall describes the intimacy of an acoustic duet as "a conversation between friends." What better way to celebrate each Telluride festival morning than by sharing in a little conversation between David Grier and Mike Comptonpairs of our favorite musicians: the sweet brother-sister harmonies of Tim and Mollie O'Brien on Thursday; the playful old-time artistry of recent additions David Grier and Mike Compton on Friday; flatpicking virtuosos Tony Rice and Bryan Sutton on Saturday; and the jaw-dropping genre-hopping of Edgar Meyer and Mike Marshall on Sunday. If you needed an inspiring reason to be back from your morning hike and on your tarp early, this is it.

Speaking of Tim O'Brien, he talks about winning his first Grammy, shares his favorite vegetarian recipe, and sings a tune for us in the latest Planet Bluegrass podcast. Download it for free from our website - no iPod required. And while you're there, be sure to subscribe to future podcasts. Up next: Yonder Mountain String Band.

Our offices are filled with close to 600 entries for this year's Telluride Troubadour contest, and boy, the talent is remarkable once again. We'll be up late for the next week choosing this year's finalists. Join us for the finals of this prestigious songwriting contest on Thursday and Friday afternoons on the Elks Park stage in the middle of Telluride. The winner performs Saturday evening on the Town Park stage right before Australian Artist-of-the-Year, Missy Higgins.

To Sunday's stellar Telluride lineup - Barenaked Ladies, Nickel Creek, John Prine, Tim O'Brien, Del McCoury Band, Peter Rowan and Tony Rice Quartet, Edgar Meyer & Mike Marshall - we are proud to welcome the Grammy-nominated percussion-driven vocal group Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heritage Choir. With their five a cappella voices, they honor the long tradition of the Sunday morning Telluride gospel set.
