Greetings Festivarians,

As we awaken on another frigid snow-filled day, stressing over holiday celebrations and winter obligations, we offer you this simple message: the journey to Telluride begins today. This long road we will all soon share - towards the warming sun of the Summer Solstice; towards the jagged musical peaks of Telluride - begins here.

Telluride Bluegrass audienceThat's right, the preliminary lineups for the 34th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 21-24, 2007) are official and tickets and camping go on sale today, December 6 at 8am MST. Gather your festivarian family and take the first step toward spending four glorious days together this June.

Camping and vehicle passes for Telluride Town Park completely sold-out through the online lottery in early November. But starting today you can order your 4-day passes and camping for all other campgrounds, including Warner Field (the closest campground to the festival grounds). Call us at 800-624-2422 or order online at bluegrass.com. Or if you prefer indoor comforts, purchase your 4-day festival pass then contact our trusted friends at the Telluride Reservation Center / Telluride.com / 888-353-5473 to reserve your room or condo in Telluride or Mountain Village.

Alison Krauss at Telluride BluegrassIn some circles "Alison, Sam, Emmylou, Jerry, Béla, Tony and Edgar" are just names. But in Festivarian circles, these names paint vivid images of special moments shared together. Individually, each name evokes a sound and a personality of one of the true geniuses of our modern acoustic music. Taken together, these names mean Telluride Bluegrass.

We are proud to welcome so many of the greatest musicians in acoustic music to this summer's Telluride stage, in so many inspiring and fresh collaborations. Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas will be performing their own contemporary bluegrass, then collaborating on a very special set with Tony Rice, featuring a spectrum of material from Tony's 35 year career. Béla Fleck will perform a set of challenging duets with jazz legend Chick Corea. The Telluride Bluegrass House Band - Sam Bush, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer, and Bryan Sutton - convenes for an only-in-Telluride performance.

Telluride Bluegrass House BandMandolins cross genres and styles with the unique pairings of Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile; Mike Marshall and Brazilian sensation Hamilton de Holanda. Yonder Mountain String Band returns as does Emmylou Harris, Scottish superstar Dougie MacLean (with his 6-piece band), bluesy songwriter Jackie Greene, and the King of Telluride himself, the Sam Bush Band.

We'll have much more to say about all of these brilliant performers in the coming months. But here's something to get you started: the preliminary lineup for the 34th Telluride Bluegrass Festival:

Chris Thile at Telluride BluegrassThe lottery for on-site camping and vehicles for RockyGrass was held yesterday. The response was so large, we unfortunately had to turn away nearly half of the lottery entries. But fear not, camping under the dramatic cliffs of Meadow Park (just a short five-minute walk to the festival) goes on-sale today. As do 3-day passes to the festival - at a special holiday discounted price. Call 800-624-2422 or order online at bluegrass.com.

At the 35th Annual RockyGrass (July 27-29, 2007), we'll welcome back Nickel Creek for their final Planet Bluegrass performance before taking an indefinite sabbatical. They join a RockyGrass lineup that includes: Del McCoury Band, Marty Stuart, Claire Lynch Band, Kruger Brothers, 2005 IBMA Entertainer of the Year Cherryholmes, and the only 2007 performance of the Sam Bush Bluegrass Band. In all, this year's RockyGrass lineup includes an amazing 13 IBMA Instrumentalists/Vocalists of the year and 5 Grammy winners. Check out the complete lineup then order your tickets and camping at 800-624-2422 or bluegrass.com.

Warner Field camping at Telluride BluegrassThe RockyGrass Academy lottery was held last week and most of the classes are now sold-out. If you somehow missed out, we may still have some spaces left in the dobro, bass, and clawhammer banjo classes. If you are a bluegrass picker, there simply is no better week of music anywhere than July 22-26 at the RockyGrass Academy in Lyons. We will place all available classes on bluegrass.com starting Tuesday at noon MST.

Tony Rice at RockyGrassTickets and camping for the Folks Festival (August 17-19, 2007), The Song School (August 12-16, 2007), and Festival of the Mabon (September 22, 2007) also go on sale today. We're actively confirming performers, and we'll post preliminary lineups for these late summer festivals in mid-January.

Finally, we have set the ambitious goal of making the 2007 Telluride Bluegrass Festival a completely carbon-neutral event. Last year we purchased renewable energy credits to offset the carbon emissions from all the artists' travel. This year we are attempting to go completely carbon-neutral by offsetting all festivarian travel as well. You can support this goal by purchasing a $5 carbon offset for each person traveling to Telluride. Be sure to look for this option when you order your Telluride tickets and help us spread the word about creating one of the first carbon neutral festivals in America.
