"I dreamt I saw you walking, on a hillside in the snow, casting shadows on the winter sky; as you stood there counting crows..." (Adam Duritz / Counting Crows)

Counting CrowsYes, we can't quiet our excitement any longer... the Counting Crows, one of the great folk-rock-soul bands of their generation, are bringing their mandolins, accordions, guitars, and stirring vocals to Telluride to headline the magical day of music that begins this year's Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 21-24).

The Summer Solstice. June 21. The longest day of the year. A day that now includes a special festival-opening set from Chris Thile; the bouyant grooves of Crooked Still; the acoustic folk-punk of the Avett Brothers; the fiery virtuosity of the Telluride House Band - featuring Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer, and 2007 Grammy-winners Bela Fleck and Bryan Sutton; Festivarians at Telluride Bluegrassand a bluegrass set from Emmylou Harris with founding members of the Seldom Scene: John Starling, Tom Gray, and Mike Auldridge.

Tickets and camping for the 34th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival are on sale now. They're going fast; we'd be surprised to have many tickets left come this June. Check out the current lineup at bluegrass.com (including Guster, Alison Krauss & Union Station, YMSB, Chick Corea & Bela Fleck), grab a few friends, and order your tickets now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422.

For when the final band of the night, the Counting Crows, sing: "we all want to be big big stars." And 10,000 joy-infused Festivarian voices fill the Telluride mountain air. We'll share a profound moment not between stars and their fans, but between Festivarians: from the roots to the stars.
