Greetings Festivarians,

Since making her Planet Bluegrass debut in 1994, every Michelle Shocked show, including 3 headlining sets each at both Telluride Bluegrass and Folks Fest, has been memorable and inspired - occasionally angry, Michelle Shockedoften joyous, but always brimming with passion. Her most recent Telluride performance - the Sunday morning gospel set in 2003 - continues to draw national acclaim since being released last month as her latest CD ToHeavenURide.

So when she approached us about performing the season finale of our inaugural Wildflower concert season (this Saturday night), we jumped. Jumped onto the Pavilion roof to install nylon sides to keep our new "cathedral of bluegrass" toasty warm. Jumped at the potential for another historic Michelle Shocked set on Planet Bluegrass. Jumped at one last chance to celebrate with the Festivarian faithful before we all head to the slopes and cabins for the winter.

Telluride Bluegrass FestivalTickets are still available for this season finale show with Michelle Shocked here in Lyons, CO on Saturday, October 20. Get yours at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. We'll have hot drinks, wine, and Oskar Blues beer at our cash bar; convenient, free parking on the Ranch; and another late-night bonfire along the St. Vrain River. Gather a few friends and join us for one final Autumn celebration on Planet Bluegrass.

Then just two days later on October 22 you can make your first plans for Festivaria 2008 as we open the first of our three ticket lotteries. We will be accepting entries for these three ticket lotteries at bluegrass.com during the following dates:

These lotteries are our fair and easy way of selling our most highly coveted tickets. RockyGrass AcademyAnytime during the specified dates you lazily wander over to bluegrass.com and complete a ticket order using our online lottery form (including payment info via credit card or personal check). Then after the specified lottery closing date, we begin randomly selecting lottery entries and processing those orders until we sell-out. Simple, and impartial, without hours of pressing redial and listening to busy signals. And if we aren't able to fill your order, you won't be charged anything.

All other tickets, including 3-day passes and camping for the Folks Fest (Aug. 15-17) go on sale at 8am MST, Wednesday, December 5 - at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. We're busy confirming bands for next year's Festivals and Academies. Look for preliminary lineup announcements in our upcoming emails and at bluegrass.com.

Finally, congratulations to all the recent winners at the 2007 IBMA award ceremony. Big winners this year included The Infamous Stringdusters and Tony Trischka (walking away with 3 awards each) and award show host Sam Bush who won this year's mandolin player of the year.
