Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova of The Swell Season (photo: Benko Photographics)It's feeling like August along the St. Vrain River here in Lyons. Mandolin chops have been replaced by ringing open chords. The trout are rising, anticipating Greg Brown's return to his favorite backstage fishing hole. Sunflowers all over the Ranch have reached eye-level as they aspire to get a glimpse of Ani DiFranco and Academy Award winners Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova of The Swell Season.

And the tickets for our historic 20th Anniversary Folks Festival (next weekend, August 13-15) are beginning to sell-out...

Single-day tickets for Sunday (August 15) officially sold-out this morning. A few hours later, three-day festival passes similarly disappeared. But fear not, single-day tickets are still available to join us next Friday or Saturday (August 13 or 14) to celebrate our 20th annual "summit on the song" with Marc Cohn, Jenny Lewis, David Wilcox, Jonatha Brooke, Darrell Scott, Tift Merritt, Gregory Alan Isakov, and so many others.

Ellis in the Wildflower Pavilion during Folks Fest (photo: Jennifer Schumacher)We just posted the complete schedule for the intimate Wildflower Pavilion performances during the Folks Festival - including Ellis, Amy Speace, Steve Seskin, songwriter-in-the-round sessions with the Songwriter Showcase Finalists, and "Oh, the Animals" – a special Saturday morning children's music performance led by musician David Williams.

Young festivarians in the St. Vrain River (photo: Jennifer Schumacher)Our friends at the Colorado Mountain Club will be joining us all weekend in the Family Area, with some of the wildly popular activities they introduced several weeks ago at RockyGrass including slacklining, river bug studies, knot tying, and much more. They'll be joined in the family area by members of the Wild Bear Science School as well as the many wonderful volunteers in our family arts and crafts tent.

Ani DiFranco (photo: Benko Photographics)Among the many music fans traveling to Folks Fest next weekend is David Dye, the host of NPR's World Cafe and one of the tastemakers we're constantly looking to for new music. David will be giving main stage introductions to several of Saturday's artists. As well, you can meet David at a special KUNC lunch reception in Lyons on Saturday. Learn more at kunc.org.

Check out the feature articles in today's Colorado papers – as the Daily Camera talks to Marc Cohn about his love for the music of 1970 and the Times-Call surveys the early years of the Folks Festival up in Estes Park.

Folks Fest view (photo: Jennifer Schumacher)Single-day tickets for Friday or Saturday ($50) are available now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. As always, Planet Bluegrass charges no handling fees on any tickets. Camping passes for nearby Meadow Park – under the dramatic cliffs of the St. Vrain River – are still available to enjoy some of the famed late-night song circles. The early weather forecast is for perfect festival weather next weekend, so put out the word to your festivarian family this weekend and make your plans to join us for this historic 20th anniversary celebration.

And if you've never seen the Academy Award-winning music film Once, do yourself a favor and watch it this weekend. You'll thank us. The magic that Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova share in that movie (which is profoundly moving) just hints at the passion and power of their live performances as The Swell Season. We can't wait to share that set (and so many others) with you next weekend. It's going to be an unforgettable weekend of music.
